CCAN complex forms the Inner Kinetochore
The kinetochore is composed of two regions:
(1) Inner region = CCAN complex;
(2) Outer region = KMN (KNL-1 complex, Mis12 complex, and Ndc80 complex) network.
The CCAN is attached to the chromatids whilst the KMN network is linked to the microtubules.
