From the Kinetochore to the CCAN complex
There are three CCAN subcomplexes:
(1) ScCtf3 complex + Cenp-TW (Cenp- HIK-TW)
(2) Cenp-LN
(3) ScCOMA+ Complex (Cenp-OPQU+)
These subcomplexes are strongly stabilised by subunit CHL4 (Cenp-N). In this exhibit, we will focus on the C-terminal domain of this subunit (Yan et al., 2019).
The IML3:CHL4 (Cenp-LN) complex
Extensive research has been done on the kinetochore. In 1988, Kouprina et al. first identified CHL4 participated in chromosome segregation through classical genetic experiments. Decades later in 2003, Pot et al. further discovered that CHL4 is one of the outer kinetochore components via chromatin immunoprecipitation, fluorescence microscopy and immunoprecipitation.
