Usually multiple interactions between residue pairs

Many residues on CHL4 (Cenp-N) form more than one interaction - 9 residues forming 17 non-covalent bonds. These multiple interactions increase the stability at this interface.

It is worth noting that CHL4 (Cenp-N) GLU-279 and MCM21 (Cenp-O) ARG-205 interact with each other through 4 salt bridges. Residue GLU-279 is also involved in hydrogen bonding and forming salt bridges with other surrounding residues, thus maximising stability at the interface.
