?A closer look at the four Interface

Via rotation and separation of the two chains which built up the relevant interface, the approximate complementarity and hydrophobicity of the interfaces are shown in the movie below.

Scale bar of hydrophobicity

The residues having a higher intensity of red are more hydrophobic.

CTF3 has been coloured in green, the color of the other subunits are shown in the right-hand image. Their protein names and corresponding chain names are listed alongside.

Interface between CTF3 and MCM16

The largest interface, showed a helical pattern as its overall shape. There are 34 hydrophobic and 34 hydrophilic residues of CTF3 involved in this interface.

Interface between CTF3 and MCM22

Overall L-shaped CTF3:MCM22 interface has a relatively bigger buried surface area. There are 20 hydrophobic and 21 hydrophilic residues of CTF3 involved in this interface.

Interface between CTF3 and IML3

There are 7 hydrophobic and 9 hydrophilic residues of CTF3 involved in this interface, apparently more hydrophobic residues of IML3 are involved. A roughly complementary structure of CTF3 and IML3 built up the interface.

Interface between CTF3 and CTF19

The smallest interface. There are 6 hydrophobic and 6 hydrophilic residues of CTF3 involved in this interface, the hydrophobic residues are mainly in the core of the interface.
